Three years ago, I penned “I Believe in You,” along with my amazing team, with one purpose in mind – to inspire and motivate. It is a timeless song for anyone that needs a moral boost or just a little nudge to say, “you matter.” After the devastation of Hurricane Dorian in both Abaco and Grand Bahama, it was only fitting that I release ”I Believe in You” with a few tweaks. My fellow country mates needed help but most importantly they needed HOPE. This song is designed to create a sense of hope, strength and assurance in knowing that we, as a nation, will live up to being strong.

I recently had the privilege of hosting two Rotary Peace Fellows from Bradford University – David from The Gambia and Ghenwa from Syria. Ghenwa comes from southern Syria which has not had the destruction, bombing, and killing that has taken place in northern Syria. However, she cannot live in Syria for fear of reprisal or arrest because of her association with Rotary.  The government in Syria is suspicious of any nongovernmental organisations and organizations such as Rotary. Because of that and out of concern for her family who still live there, she and her husband must live outside Syria. These Peace Fellows are exceptional young people. I loved hosting them and felt so privileged to be in their company and to share their experiences.

Rotarian Action Group for Peace, November 9th, 2019

November 9th is Rotary Day at the United Nations, and Rotarian Action Group for Peace is celebrating by presenting a workshop at the Palais des Nations at the UN during Geneva Peace Week 2019.  On November 8th, RAGFP Executive Director, Reem Ghunaim presented her latest workshop called, "Activating Peace: How to Build Sustainable Peace within your Community" to UN officials, NGO representatives, diplomats, and many other global peacebuilders. 

After her successful pilot workshop at the RI convention in Hamburg, Reem was invited to present an updated version at the Palace of the United Nations in Switzerland for this year's Geneva Peace Week Conference. Geneva Peace Week is an annual conference that connects and highlights the work of global peace actors from government, NGOs, and businesses to collaborate and expand the space for peacebuilding. This conference instills that each and every person, actor, and institution has a role to play in building peace and strategizes peacebuilding from multiple angles.

Geneva Peace Week 2019 starts Monday, November 4th. The Rotarian Action Group for Peace team is excited for our Executive Director, Reem Ghunaim, to present our workshop to several non-profits, diplomats, business leaders, and United Nations representatives. Although we celebrate Peace year-round at the RAGFP, we are ecstatic to inspire and collaborate peace action on a special global scale this week.
