The Kitchener-Waterloo Cluster of Rotary Clubs has partnered with the University of Waterloo to provide scholarships for students who focus their studies on peace.
The Bob Weber Memorial Rotary Peace Scholarship – granted to a student in the Master of Global Governance program based at the Balsillie School of International Affairs – is one of three awards created by Rotary for the 2013-14 academic year. It was named after a Kitchener-Conestoga Rotarian who recently passed away, and who deeply valued the organization’s mandate to promote peace worldwide.
“We are greatly indebted to the Rotary Club of Kitchener-Conestoga for establishing the Bob Weber Memorial Rotary Peace Scholarship,” said Dr. John Ravenhill, Director of the Balsillie School of International Affairs. “This award not only benefits our students, it advances the School’s mission, which is to find new solutions to humanity’s critical problems, including problems of war and violent conflict.”
