Rotary Peace Fellows inspire at special concert

October 31, 2019, by Carol Hall, Published in Rotary International

I recently had the privilege of hosting two Rotary Peace Fellows from Bradford University – David from The Gambia and Ghenwa from Syria. Ghenwa comes from southern Syria which has not had the destruction, bombing, and killing that has taken place in northern Syria. However, she cannot live in Syria for fear of reprisal or arrest because of her association with Rotary.  The government in Syria is suspicious of any nongovernmental organisations and organizations such as Rotary. Because of that and out of concern for her family who still live there, she and her husband must live outside Syria. These Peace Fellows are exceptional young people. I loved hosting them and felt so privileged to be in their company and to share their experiences.

Rotarian Action Group for Peace, November 9th, 2019

November 9th is Rotary Day at the United Nations, and Rotarian Action Group for Peace is celebrating by presenting a workshop at the Palais des Nations at the UN during Geneva Peace Week 2019.  On November 8th, RAGFP Executive Director, Reem Ghunaim presented her latest workshop called, "Activating Peace: How to Build Sustainable Peace within your Community" to UN officials, NGO representatives, diplomats, and many other global peacebuilders.

Celebrate Rotarian Reconnect Week

October 4th, 2019 By Rotary International, Celebrate Reconnect Week With Us!

Reconnect Week takes place October 7-13, and it's time to celebrate. This week is an internationally celebrated time on the Rotary calendar dedicated to renew and build past Rotary program participants and Rotarians. Past program participants who have lost their active connection to Rotary can refresh their ties by visiting club meetings, helping with projects, and engaging online. By doing so, they can experience again how Rotary reshapes lives locally and globally. Is there an alumni association in your district? Can alumni engage in a club service project? Can you take an alumnus out for coffee? This is your time to help program alumni renew their connection to Rotary.
