Together for Peace Inspires my Rotary Club

October 29, 2020. Together for Peace Inspires my Rotary Club.

Together for Peace has become part of my weekly routine.  Regardless of what news develops during the week, I know that on Friday I will be inspired by someone working to create lasting change. I became a fan in part because in my small town I rarely have the opportunity to meet so many change agents from around the world as I do each Friday.  I have remained a fan because of the format our host Reem Ghunaim provides.  She has a way to develop the story of those she interviews and handles the complex issues with empathy and understanding.  The conversational, living room environment allows the guests to open up about their experiences.

Why you should add “Together for Peace” to your virtual schedule.

October 22, 2020. Why you should add "Together for Peace" to your virtual schedule.

Together for Peace has been a priority welcome uplifting part of my wife Brenda and my virtual schedule of learning during the pandemic. Why? Because of the high quality of the guest interviewees and Reem’s warmth, genuine interest, excellent preparation, and empathy. She has the gift of bringing out intimate details from interesting guests that are at the core of the unique achievements of each individual she interviews. The outcome of each interview is a deep appreciation for the deep sharing that takes place. It is as if I am a listener to a private conversation between people who like, trust, and respect each other enough to speak intimate truths and make themselves vulnerable by doing so. To create such an atmosphere in an interview is special.

The Rotary Club of Troy | History

When Paul Harris founded Rotary in 1905, he envisioned an organization where people from diverse backgrounds and experiences could work together to provide humanitarian service in their communities and beyond. That vision quickly became reality. Rotary started with one club in 1905, and 6 years later, Rotary outgrew the Americas and spread to Ireland.  By 1922, Rotary had over 200 clubs worldwide, leading them to change the organization’s name to Rotary International. Never before had there been so many people united in a common purpose to better humanity. Despite RI’s exceptional growth and positive mission, Rotarians were only operating at half power.
