Harry is a Cypriot American social and political scientist, and a recognized pioneer in peace-building initiatives in Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, the Middle East and the European Union. He is a leading faculty member of Portland State University’s Conflict Resolution Graduate Program, a long-time Rotarian as well as the academic advisor to the Rotary Peace Centers Committee. He has provided leadership in fostering, organizing and promoting Greek-Turkish interethnic rapprochement at the local, national and international levels from the 1990s to present, and is a core leader in the Cyprus peace movement.
Harry has published three books, numerous book chapters and journal articles, alongside top international scholars in his field. He has been teaching eight graduate courses per year, including an annual study abroad course in Cyprus, which is organized in collaboration with the Future Worlds Center. He was a founding member of the Cyprus Conflict Resolution Trainers Group and of the Technology for Peace Project, and he remains active in the Middle East peace process through the Act Beyond Borders project
