Gord Crann is the past Chair of the Rotarian Action Group for Peace (RAGFP) after serving as RAGFP Chair-Elect 2014-2015 and Secretary 2013-14, and Chair of the multi-district Rotarians for Peace Symposium in Toronto on March 2, 2013.
From 2011 to June 2013, Gord chaired both the District 7070 Rotary Peace Programs Committee and the District 7070 Wilf Wilkinson Peace Award Committee.
Gord Crann is also Immediate Past President and Advisory Board Chair of the Rotarian Action Group for Microfinance and Community Development (RAGM) after serving as 2010-11 RAGM Secretary, 2011-12 RAGM Vice-President and 2012-13 RAGM Chair and President.
From 2008 to June 2011, Gord chaired the District 7070 Microfinance Committee, co-chaired the 2009 Toronto Microfinance Conference, co-chaired the 2010 Toronto Microfinance Gala, and served a year as Past President of the Toronto International Microfinance Summit.
At the district level, Gord just finished serving his fourth year as the District 7070 International Service Co-Chair, and is serving his second year as District 7070 Environmental Awareness and Action Co-Chair. He was awarded the District 7070 Council of Past District Governors Trophy for the greatest Service contribution to Rotary in 2012-13.
At the club level, Gord is currently President and Foundation Chair of the Toronto-Earlscourt Rotary Club after serving as 2012-13 Toronto-Earlscourt Rotary Club Vice-President.
Gord gave the keynote address on “The Importance of Microfinance in the Developing World” at the Canadian Rotary Collaboration for International Development’s 2011 Tribute Dinner. He has made presentations at: the 2012 Rotary International Convention in Bangkok, Thailand; the 2010 Uniendo America Rotary Project Fair in Antigua, Guatemala; the 2011 Calgary Microcredit Conference; and the 2011 Victoria Microcredit Conference.
A lawyer by profession, Gord is the principal of Crann Law Firm specializing in providing legal services to non-profit affordable ownership housing developments using a revolving home ownership fund.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Gord was a City Councillor in East York (now City of Toronto) and a political columnist with the Toronto Star. He has served on numerous non-profit and charity boards over many years, including being Chair of the Nuclear Weapons Legal Action, President of Environmental Defence and Vice-President of World Federalists of Canada.
Gord completed his BA degree in Geography and his MA degree in Public Administration both at the University of Toronto, and his LL.B. degree from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.
