Peace Days exists for all persons who believe in a culture of peace and compassion.
The Rotary Club of Winnipeg Peace Builder Committee is an inspirer and facilitator of a grassroots movement working together for positive peace locally, nationally and internationally.
Through a network of dedicated individuals, institutions, organizations and businesses [also known as Venue Participants] work is done and efforts are made to come together to promote and advance understanding, goodwill, and positive peace through peace literacy education, awareness and action. This work and awareness is showcased during the Peace Days Festival taking place annually, September 10th to 21st and through Peace Days 365 events happening throughout the year.
Be A PIECE of PEACE. Venue Participants and allies are invited to choose a piece of the peace objectives that resonate or, are encouraged to create other objectives that promote and action the peace literacy movement that advance the vision, mission and values of the Rotary Club of Winnipeg’s Peace Builder Committee.
Peace Days was inspired by Rotary World Peace Partners in 2010. Peace Days grew out of a desire to celebrate the United Nations’ International Day of Peace, designated as September 21st each year.
This year, from September 10-21, 2019, Peace Days will include a diverse, stimulating program of events throughout Winnipeg to appeal to all ages.

What’s a Peace Pole??? …You might ask…
Central High School installed one outside the school office in late spring of 2019. (The first for Independence.) Printed in 8 languages, the words, “May Peace Prevail on Earth” are inscribed… They offer focal points for contemplation and conversation about creating a less violent world.
September 21st marks the international “Day of Peace.” recognized by the United Nations and over 35,000 international chapters of Rotary. PM, we will have a brief ceremony and dedication of our second local Peace Pole
Peace Pole brief history…
A Japanese survivor of the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima conceived of the idea of the peace pole in 1955. The first one was planted in Japan in 1977 and then the idea started to spread around the world.
Mike Caruso is the organizer for the Newburg/Dundee local Peace Pole Project (They now have over 50 Peace Poles in the two communities! Mike writes, “We’re always talking about war, about ‘the enemy’ and how we are going to defeat them. The Peace Pole is a symbolic prompt “to have a conversation about peace, about how we can solve our problems without becoming violent.”
ALL Rotary proceeds from this FUN event go directly into Central High School scholarship funding and Central High School international student exchange programs!
Check out the Monmouth/Independence local information on Facebook! Funding for the Peace Pole costs has been contributed by our local Monmouth/Independence Rotary Club in conjunction with the Al Jubitz Foundation. PLEASE JOIN US ON!

Mediators Beyond Borders 2019 International Congress
November 6 – 8 , 2019
Conflict-transformation is a key leadership skill, especially in today’s increasingly complex world.
In this ground-breaking leadership conference, Mediators Beyond Borders International invites trailblazers, risk-takers, and change-makers in the mediation and conflict-transformation space. They will share experiences, practices, and processes, so we can each work to create positive socioeconomic change into the next decade.
Mediators Beyond Borders International (MBBI) is proud to be one of eight Rotary Service Partners, and is working in collaboration with Districts 3410 and 3420 to organize a groundbreaking International Peace Congress in Bali, Indonesia November 6 -8, 2019. This event is uniquely designed to transform the lives its participants.
The theme of this conference is: “DISRUPTORS: Being Peacebuilders in a World of Conflict,” and we will gather leaders, influencers, and changemakers to share the methods and mindsets to build a better world. Rotary needs your voice to share the Rotary experience and viewpoint, and to learn from leaders in the field of conflict prevention, transformation, and healing.
Rotarians are People of Action, and People of Action are DISRUPTORS by nature. Because they create change. Through this Congress, you will gain transformative skills and resources that will help you expand or launch your Peacebuilding work.
We have also created a special discount code for RAG for Peace, in order to honor our partnership with Rotary International. We invite you to share this opportunity within your club and throughout your Districts.
