Michael G. Hayes

Michael joined the Rotary Action Group for Peace in 2015 and the Board of Directors in 2020, working with the Education Committee and the Business Plan Committee.

Michael joined the Rotary Club of Westlake (La.)  in 2000, He was Club President in the  2002 – 2003 and 2012 -2013.  Michael served on District 6200 Committees, as Assistant District Governor, and as District Lieutenant Governor.  He was District Governor in 2015 – 2016.  Michael was the Chair of the District Extension Committee, founding three Rotary Clubs, and District Trainer.  He also served as Zone 31 Assistant Rotary Coordinator, focusing on membership.  He is the RYLA Program Chair, serving since 2005, and developed a Peace Cirriculum for RYLA and Interact Clubs.

In his business career, Michael served as Environmental Manager, Governmental Affairs Manager and Manager of Public Affairs. Michael has worked successfully with Members of Congress, the Louisiana Governor’s office, the EPA Office of Environmental Justice and with South African Ambassadors to the US.  Michael has also gained extensive experience in minority community empowerment and conflict resolution.

Michael is currently the Chairman of the board of the New Legacy Foundation, working to find ways to relocate minority communities at risk.
