Thank you for joining the Rotarian Action Group for Peace for this online webinar with our guest John Lindsay-Poland. John has written about, researched and organized action for human rights and demilitarization of US policy in Latin America for more than 30 years. As a veteran human rights and peace activist, author and researcher John will begin the webinar with a presentation that includes a panoramic view of U.S. militarization – with examples from Oregon, the drug war, Colombia, environmental opportunity costs of military spending and immigration policy. In this interactive lecture we will learn how people are using this information to create effective action for change, and how Rotarians can join those efforts.
If we wish to live in peace, we need to understand the ways that our economy, how we address problems, relations with other nations, and institutions are militarized. And then we also need concrete ways to effectively act for change.
Feel free to submit questions online during the event (using the above chat feature). You may also submit questions in advance at [email protected] and we will post John’s responses with the event video.
